Next Meeting: Thursday 10th March, 8PM, Castle Hotel Macroom.

8 03 2011

We are already into March and only a few months remain before Summer is upon us. In the mean time, while the weather is still slightly chilly, why not make the most of being indoors… By attending a Toastmaster’s meeting!

Benefits include (but are not limited to):

  • Witnessing funny, dramatic and often moving speeches.
  • Meeting new like minded people.
  • Seeing how other people overcome their fear of public speaking.
  • The famous Tea and/or Coffee plus Biscuits at half-time!

We’d love to see you there.

IMPORTANT: Change to dates of future meetings.

10 11 2010

Hello Blog Readers – We have had to change the dates of some upcoming meetings in order to accommodate some members.

The next three meetings in the run up to Christmas will be at 8PM on the following dates:

  • November 18th
  • December 2nd
  • December 16th

All meetings will be in the Bealick room at the Castle Hotel, Macroom.

We hope this isn’t an inconvenience for any potential guests, who are always welcome.

Summer time…. and only a few meetings left.

20 04 2010

If you have ever considered coming along to Macroom Toastmasters – Now is the ideal time to act. There are just a handful of meetings left before we break for the summer. Each meeting promises several interesting speeches as well as the usual banter and craic. Every visitor is warmly welcomed and entitled to a cup of tea and biscuit! At least one Biscuit*.

Congratulations to Michael Murphy and Trevor Mulcahy on their excellent performances in the Area 11 speech and evaluation contests which took place in Innishannon last Friday week. While competition is part of the Toastmaster’s experience, it is completely optional. Congratulations to the eventual Area 11 winners: Joe McSweeney from Clonakilty in the International Speech contest and Lena Ni Murchu, Bandon in the Evaluation contest.

Our next meeting takes place this Thursday, April 22nd, 7:50PM, at the Macroom-E centre.

*Terms and conditions apply.

Lots to look forward to at next week’s meeting: 11th March.

4 03 2010

All things going to plan, we should have several speeches to enjoy at next week’s meeting at the Macroom E centre, Thursday 11th March at 7:50PM.

By the way, just a gentle reminder to any of our club members that we are looking for Pictures and a few words for the club’s website. How long have you been in Toastmasters? What have you gotten from TM? Any particular experiences from TM stand out? 2 or 3 sentences is all we need.

Any when you are sending on a photo  – Please pick one we will recognise you in!

Good things come in small packages…

1 02 2010

Or… Small meetings yield great results. Our first meeting of 2010 had a slightly smaller than usual attendance, but the meeting was very enjoyable regardless of the numbers. We were delighted to be joined by two guests, Chris and Ciara who we hope we’ll see again.

Guests are always welcome and they don’t have to say a thing – There is no pressure to speak in Toastmasters!

Michael Murphy gave a great speech on the fickle nature of perception entitled “The Gold Rush”. Both the speech evaluator Michael Lynch, and the meeting’s General Evaluator, Kieran Coffey were impressed by the humour in the speech.

John Skeates also presented a very enjoyable topics session which drew on everything from history to transport.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 11th of February, 7:50PM at the Macroom-E centre as usual. In case you were wondering where that is, here is a map. We look forward to seeing you there.
